“For a SPLIT SECOND, I questioned something...”

It's fascinating how sometimes we need to pay attention to and act on certain split second thoughts/feelings/intuition and other times it can be a split second thought that can throw you off track. Things are not always linear the way we plan them and our well intentioned planning may not actually be what the outcome requires. Making the distinction between the two is not always easy.

Are you familiar with the didgeridoo? It is a hollow wooden musical instrument used by Australian Aboriginals. I have read that when making a didgeridoo the first part of the process is selecting the wood. The wood is selected not according to what the instrument maker thinks will make a good didgeridoo. The instrument maker walks in the bush and looks for “the wood that wants to be a didgeridoo”. In the same way we can ask ourselves “what does the project/outcome require next” rather than to force our logic to come up with the next step. Also, since everything is in motion (in terms of interacting forces and consequences) an unexpected change somewhere (perhaps outside the field of observation *or* “you can't see around corners”) can mean that it is necessary to change the original plans.

“Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.”
